Q4C Holiday Newsletter 2008

This is the last Q4C newsletter for 2008 and we would like to take this opportunity to tell you about three major successes of 2008: the finalisation of the Q4C Toolkit; the start of the Latin American Q4C; and the new language versions of the Q4C Standards.

We would also like to wish you all the best for the holidays and good luck in 2009! We are already looking forward to the upcoming Q4C activities around the world!

The Q4C Toolkit is online!

After months of preparations, the Q4C Toolkit was put online on 22 December. The Q4C Toolkit is a compilation of documents that can support people or organisations working with the Q4C Standards. You can download documents such as advocacy recommendations, the planning and research of the Q4C Standards, as well as inputs from the Q4C Congress in Gmunden in 2005 and UN Documents.

The toolkit is available electronically and is hosted at the Q4C website.

Q4C in Latin America

In 2009, the Latin American office of SOS Children’s Villages, together with RELAF (Latin American Foster Care Network) and REDLAMYC (Red latino americana y caribeña por la defensa de los derechos de los niños, niñas y adolescentes), will conduct Quality4Children Latin America. The first planning meetings have already taken place in Montevideo , Uruguay . The Q4C Latin American partners are in regular contact with the Q4C Coordination Team.

The Latin American NGOs intend to follow a similar path in developing the Latin American standards; they have also identified the voices of those involved as the main strength of the European process and will therefore develop Latin American standards using the Storytelling method and ensuring child and young adult participation.

Standards in 23 languages

After the successful presentation of the Czech version of the Q4C Standards in Prague (the event was sold out!), which was the result of cooperation between IFCO and SOS Children’s Villages, we are delighted to announce that the 23rd language version of the standards in now online! Please click here for the language database.

SOS Portugal has announced that the Portuguese version is about to be released!
